Love Thy Neighborhood Walking Tour
As part of this year's Focus on Faith theme of Love Thy Neighborhood, IPC member Cathy Adams will lead two historical/architectural tours of Highland Avenue houses of worship.
The first tour will begin on Saturday, October 28 at 9:30 am with a 20-minute tour of Temple Emanu-El, followed by 20-minute tours of South Highland Presbyterian and St. Mary's Episcopal Churches. Temple Emanu-El has invited us to their 10:30 am worship service. (NOTE: Anyone attending service will miss St. Mary's stop.) Please park in the South Highland Presbyterian parking lot where we will begin our tour with a brief talk on the history of Highland Avenue.
On Sunday, October 29, we will meet at Independent Presbyterian Church at 2 pm for an architectural overview led by Andrew Hicks followed by a walk around Highland Avenue with historian and author Richard Dabney and ending with light refreshments at The Clubhouse on Highland hosted by Bob McKenna.
Both tours will include a history of the buildings with an emphasis on their architecture. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress casually. Space is limited, so please RSVP.
